History

1967

The Birth of Campbell Supply Company

W. Campbell Supply Company was founded in 1967 by the late Whitman S. (Woody) Campbell Supply Company, (1914-1993). Initially, the company focused on selling and servicing fire apparatus and equipment from Woody’s home. It quickly became a Seagrave Fire Apparatus dealership covering the State of New Jersey and Eastern portions of Pennsylvania. The company’s first employee, Spencer Fritz, was hired, marking the establishment of the Campbell Supply Company Service Department.

1970s

Rapid Expansion and Success

The business experienced rapid success in the 1970s, selling hundreds of Seagrave Pumpers and Aerial Ladders in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This period also saw the addition of New York City, Long Island, and Eastern Pennsylvania to the dealership’s sales and service areas. It was during this time that the first outside salesperson, Ted Jensen, and master mechanic Tom Derry were brought on board.

1980s

Scott Campbell’s Involvement

In 1980, Scott Campbell, Woody’s son, started working as a full-time apprentice mechanic, beginning his journey towards eventually taking ownership of the company. The mid-80s witnessed significant growth with multiple fire truck orders for the City of New York and the City of Philadelphia, as well as the addition of four road service vehicles. Charles “Chuck” Yeoman joined as the current Vice President during this period.

1999

Expansion into Commercial Trucks

In 1999, the company decided to diversify and expanded into the commercial truck business by adding Freightliner® Trucks, a Daimler Trucks North America brand, to its product lineup. This move was a resounding success and set the stage for future growth.

2007-2017

Acquisitions and Growth

Campbell Supply Company Freightliner®, LLC acquired its second full-line dealership in Newburgh, NY, in July 2007, followed by the acquisition of Campbell Supply Company of Port Newark, LLC, at the end of 2011. In 2017, Campbell Supply Company acquired its fourth location in Lafayette NJ, Campbell Supply of Sussex County.

State-of-the-Art Facility

In September 2013, the Dealership moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility located in South Brunswick, NJ, further enhancing its capabilities.

50th Anniversary Celebration

Campbell Supply Company celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2017, a testament to its enduring success and commitment to excellence.

2020

Further Expansion

In 2020, the company expanded its product offerings by adding the Isuzu® brand. This expansion continued in 2021 with the addition of the Western Star® Line.

Expansion Continues

In 2020, Campbell Supply Company acquired its fifth location in Bridgeton, NJ, and its sixth location in Absecon, NJ, while also introducing Isuzu Trucks to the dealership’s product lineup. Additionally, a state-of-the-art facility was opened in Keasbey, NJ.

A Leading Commercial Truck Dealer

Today, Campbell Supply Company boasts a team of over 365 employees, operates mobile service, offers same-day parts delivery to NJ, NY, and Eastern PA through its fleet of over 55 parts delivery vehicles, and is open seven days a week. The company continues to grow and excel, overshadowing competing commercial truck dealers in the North-Eastern United States.
